OREANDA-NEWS  BRICS will play an important role in the energy sector, namely in the production, transportation and consumption of energy, as well as in new technologies and the aerospace sector, the organization's presence may extend to the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari told RIA Novosti.

"The most important problem is three issues: the first is energy production, the second is energy transportation, and the third is energy consumption. I can say that these three issues are being resolved by the BRICS," Safari said.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic stressed that thanks to the membership of India, Russia and Iran, BRICS can play an important role in such areas as energy, technology, aerospace, transit corridors, presence in the waters of the Persian and Oman Gulfs and the Indian Ocean, world trade and high-tech technologies.

At the BRICS summit in South Africa in August 2023, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the organization's members had decided to invite Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE to become full members of the BRICS. Later, Argentina refused to participate in the unification. The full participation of new countries in this organization began on January 1, 2024. As Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said after the Johannesburg summit, a state wishing to join the BRICS should not impose sanctions against the member countries of the association.
