OREANDA-NEWS  Iranian oil exports have practically stopped, said the head of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati.

"Under the current conditions, oil exports are practically stopped," the official said on Iranian television.

He also noted that despite this, the country has the necessary foreign exchange reserves, as well as foreign currency receipts that will provide the country with medicines and basic goods.

CNN, citing American officials, reported that the United States is moving to a strategy of gradual economic "strangulation" of Iran instead of the previous course of military operation. US officials reported that a new package of sanctions against Iran is expected to be introduced this week, while the blockade of Iranian ports will remain in place.
