OREANDA-NEWS Kiev is ready to abandon the truce along the front line as part of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and continue fighting. This statement was made by the republic's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Andrei Melnik at a meeting of the organization's Security Council, the video is published by "Country.ua" in Telegram.

"If the Security Council continues to adhere to a wait—and-see attitude, I do not rule out that Ukraine may reconsider and change its proposal," the diplomat said.

Melnyk called the cease-fire along the actual line of combat "already a big compromise" on the part of Kiev and said that the country's authorities were "not infinitely" ready for direct negotiations with Moscow. The permanent Representative of Ukraine accused the Security Council of insufficient efforts to resolve the conflict due to its unwillingness to accept the draft resolutions proposed by Kiev on a complete and unconditional ceasefire.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised to identify a representative of Europe in negotiations with Russia. The politician considered it "fair" to approve the candidacy of a negotiator from the European Union.
