Lebanon was "not aware" of its contacts with Israel

OREANDA-NEWS The Lebanese authorities have stated that they are not aware of possible contacts with Israel, which were announced by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP) with reference to a high-ranking source, TASS reports.
"We are not aware of any planned contacts with the Israeli side, and we have not been informed about this through official channels," said a representative of the Lebanese leadership.
Earlier, Trump said that Israel and Lebanon will hold the first talks at the level of their leaders in 34 years this Thursday, April 16.
On April 14, it became known that the United States, Israel and Lebanon had agreed to begin direct negotiations. According to the US State Department, the United States will provide large-scale financial assistance to Lebanon if negotiations with the Israeli side are successful.
