The active import of pork from Russia to Belarus is a shameful fact for local agricultural enterprises. This was stated by the head of the republic Alexander Lukashenko, his words are quoted by the Telegram channel "Pool One".

He estimated the total cost of supplying this type of meat from Russia to Belarus at $200 million. In 2025 alone, exports totaled 130,000 tons. Against the background of high prices, pork turned out to be inaccessible to many residents of the republic. "We import pork from Russia... It's a disgrace," stated Lukashenko.

Against the background of consistently high demand in recent years, Russian suppliers have significantly raised prices for their products. With this in mind, Lukashenko called on local farmers and agrarians to increase pork production. This will help to stabilize the crisis situation with prices in the domestic market. He called the current situation unacceptable. "There is no pork meat, there is no barbecue," the President of the Republic complained.

Lukashenko has repeatedly urged Belarusian manufacturers not to resort to imports. Instead, they should produce all the necessary products on their own. Belarus has sufficient resources to achieve this goal, he noted. At the same time, it is not necessary to completely limit competition with foreign suppliers, Lukashenko stressed. Those things that are not enough, he explained, can be imported.
