OREANDA-NEWS   French President Emmanuel Macron has not ruled out the possibility of depriving Russian leader Vladimir Putin of the title of Knight of the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor, Agence France-Presse reports.

Knight Grand Cross is the highest rank of the Legion of Honor. Putin received this title in September 2006 from the hands of French President Jacques Chirac. Macron called the issue of the exclusion of the President of the Russian Federation from the ranks of the Legion of Honor "a symbolic but important issue."

"I'm not ruling anything out... but today I don't have such a decision. (Such decisions) are filled with many meanings, and I think we should choose the right moment to make them," Macron said on Friday night after the end of the EU summit in Brussels.

Putin is the first and only Russian to be awarded the highest rank of the Legion of Honor.
