OREANDA-NEWS French President Emmanuel Macron has threatened Russia with new sanctions, which will be agreed with the United States, if Moscow does not agree to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. The politician stated this following a meeting of the "coalition of the willing," Reuters reports.
"If Russia refuses peace talks, then new sanctions will be imposed against it in coordination with the United States," the French leader said.
According to Macron, Kiev will begin to coordinate possible anti-Russian restrictions with Washington.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that Moscow has never refused to negotiate a settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
In addition, the head of state noted that he highly appreciates the role of the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, but is ready to raise the level of negotiations if necessary. He also stressed that he had not ruled out the possibility of meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, including in Moscow.
