Marketplace to close in Russia
Source: OREANDA-NEWS
OREANDA-NEWS After the merger of Magnit Market with the Magnit e-commerce circuit, the site will cease to operate as a universal marketplace. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to the company's message in the Telegram channel for partners and its press service.
Sellers have already been offered to take goods out of warehouses, and from September 6, the work of the main showcase on the website and in the application for buyers will stop.
As the retailer's representative explained, Magnit is abandoning "frontal competition with the two largest market players" and will change its business model towards an "expanded shelf." As a result, the marketplace will be replaced by a platform where the main range of the retail chain will be supplemented with items of household chemicals, cosmetics and household goods.
According to him, the development of Magnit Delivery is going well, so the retailer is considering using it for further interaction with sellers. "We will be testing a new operating model that maximizes synergy within the Magnit ecosystem," he concluded.
Until the termination of work in the current format from August 20, sellers will no longer be able to ship goods from the seller's warehouse through partner order pick-up points. In the next two weeks, only sorting centers and cross-docks will be available to them. Also, by the end of the summer, partner PVZS will gradually be suspended in stages.
In the comments to the site's statement, sellers note that Magnit Market recently announced a "Discount Season" until September 21, and also, along with other marketplaces, updated the offer due to possible drone attacks on warehouses. Thus, they suggest, the decision to change the format soon was made unexpectedly.
