OREANDA-NEWS  Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko arrived in Turkey on a working visit to participate in the events of the 152 Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, the press service of the upper house of the Russian parliament reported.

"Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko has arrived in the Republic of Turkey on a working visit to participate in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is opening in Istanbul. Valentina Matvienko will speak at the general discussion of the plenary session of the Assembly, which this year is dedicated to the theme "Strengthening hope, ensuring peace and justice for future generations," and will hold a number of bilateral meetings," the message says.

The press service also added that Matvienko heads the Russian parliamentary delegation. They also noted that the senators will participate in the work of a number of standing committees of the IPU and working groups, in thematic discussions and meetings of the coordinating bodies of the IPU, as well as in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians.
