OREANDA-NEWS Friedrich Merz's successor as German chancellor will not last long. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov predicted serious problems for the next leader of Germany in his Telegram channel.

"The rapid change of leaders is an inevitable consequence of the deep social crisis and general instability in European societies. And you can be sure that the chancellor who follows Mertz won't last long either. It's not about the faces, it's about an untenable policy," he wrote.

According to him, Europe is facing three major challenges that European leaders cannot cope with: the energy crisis due to the severance of ties with Russia and the war in Iran, rising crime due to uncontrolled migration and huge costs to Ukraine.

Earlier, the popularity of Merz's party dropped to a record high. The CDU/CSU bloc's rating has dropped to a record low of 19 percent.
