OREANDA-NEWS  The conflict in Ukraine will end when one of the two sides is exhausted. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, according to Der Spiegel.

As the newspaper notes, the head of the German government does not see much chance of a quick end to the Ukrainian conflict through negotiations.

"In my estimation, this war will end only when one of the two sides is exhausted, either militarily or economically," he said.

On February 17-18, trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis were held in Geneva. According to sources, discussions in the political working group have "stalled" due to the positions presented by the chief Russian negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky.
