OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview that the risks of a nuclear war are very significant, regardless of the agreements of states that it should never be unleashed. Military expert Konstantin Sivkov, in an interview with the Public News Service, revealed whether such a scenario is possible.

“Western civilization started a war against Russia, and at this stage it is losing this war,” said Konstantin Sivkov.

Answering the question whether a nuclear war with NATO is possible, he replied: “Objectively, things are moving towards this.”

“They are afraid, they want to make a limited nuclear war within the Ukrainian theater. But this will go further. Because they are well aware that they are losing this war in Ukraine. Therefore, the supply (of weapons) will not change anything. Therefore, everything is clear that the situation is like this - very dangerous for them. The loss of this war will mean the collapse of Western civilization,” Konstantin Sivkov concluded.

At the same time, he noted, the presence of a nuclear potential and the possibility of using it will prevent this war.

“But even if they start a limited nuclear war, then the blow will go to both the UK and the US. This is clearly what they need to understand. And then nothing will happen,” Konstantin Sivkov warned.

At the same time, Lavrov said that the inadmissibility of nuclear war is Russia's principled position.

"Well, yes. This is the position of healthy people. And mentally ill people are at the head of European states.”

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the UN listed the catastrophic consequences of a nuclear war. Even on a regional scale, it can cause climate disorganization and famine. And doctors and employees of operational services will not be able to work in contaminated areas.
