OREANDA-NEWS 41 countries, including the United States, Japan and South Korea, issued a statement calling for advance notification of launches of ballistic missiles and launch vehicles. The joint statement is quoted by Interfax.
"Orderly, transparent notification mechanisms do not limit any country's military development or operational needs. Instead, they reduce the risk of miscalculation, build trust, and reflect a shared commitment to security," the statement said.
In particular, the countries propose to notify about missile launches 24 hours in advance. The message should contain information about the class of the rocket, the launch area and the planned direction.
