OREANDA-NEWS  More than a thousand residents are missing in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira, which was hardest hit by the earthquake on June 24. This was stated by the governor of the state, Jose Alejandro Teran, in an interview with Union Radio.

Information about the missing was obtained on the basis of appeals from local residents and the Unified Housing Registry, which covers more than 95,000 people. A total of 1,338 citizens are missing.

According to the governor, the earthquake hit 8.55 percent of the state. The tremors destroyed 180 buildings, and another 750 were damaged. 20,000 residents had to be accommodated in temporary camps.

Earlier it was reported that 25 cats were rescued from a shopping mall destroyed by an earthquake in Japan.
