OREANDA-NEWS A 10% decrease in alcohol consumption is noted in Russia in 2026, said Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.

"I thank everyone present in the hall, the governors, for what we received from the previous period and have now this year. This is a decrease in alcohol consumption in many areas of almost 10%. This is a good result and we need to keep moving forward," Murashko said at the First All-Russian Congress with International participation "Nutrition is the way to national Health."

He added that a global health challenge is chronic noncommunicable diseases, which account for about three quarters of all deaths worldwide.

"And, of course, why are we talking about healthy eating? Because this is actually the only factor that, along with tobacco, physical activity and alcohol, modifies risk factors and changes morbidity," he said.
