OREANDA-NEWS  Moscow does not want a war with NATO, said Alex Grinkevich, Commander-in-chief of the alliance's Joint Armed Forces in Europe, on the sidelines of the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin.

"I have studied the intelligence very carefully. Russia does not seek conflict," the Financial Times quoted him as saying.

This is how he answered the question about the possible use of military force by Moscow against the Baltic states.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly explained in detail that Moscow is not going to attack NATO countries, but Western politicians regularly intimidate their populations with an imaginary Russian threat in order to distract attention from internal problems.

In recent years, Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the unprecedented activity of NATO near its western borders. The Alliance is building up its forces and calls it "deterring aggression." The Kremlin noted that Moscow does not threaten anyone, but it will not ignore actions that are potentially dangerous to its interests.
