OREANDA-NEWS  Patrick Vieira, the 1998 world champion of the French national team, became the new head coach of the Senegalese national team. The Senegalese Football Federation announced this on its account on the social network X.

The length of the contract with the 50-year-old specialist is not reported. The financial terms of the agreement are also not known.

Vieira's last job was at Genoa in Italy, which he left in November 2025. The former French national team player also coached Strasbourg, Crystal Palace, Nice and New York City.

The Senegalese national team competed at the 2026 World Cup and lost to Belgium in the 1/16 finals. After that, Pape Thiaw was dismissed from the post of head coach.
