OREANDA-NEWS  Poland has deployed additional police forces and water cannons on the border with Belarus, the PAP news agency reported on Wednesday.

"Yesterday, police detachments were sent to the border to combat riots. More than 250 police officers are part of the additional forces, and 370 police officers are currently in the border zone with Belarus," Katarzyna Novak, spokeswoman for the Main Police Department, told the agency.

She noted that among those sent to the border, in particular, counterterrorism forces, dog handlers and officers of other police services, water cannons, searchlights and sound warning systems were delivered there.

It is reported that the increased police presence on the Polish-Belarusian border "is associated with an increase in the number of attacks by migrants on border guards and soldiers serving in the border area."
