Promising areas of export of Russian fish are named

OREANDA-NEWS Russian fishing companies have the potential to increase exports to the BRICS countries. This was stated by the Managing Director of the Rosselkhoznadzor's Center for Industry Expertise (RSHB). Oleg Lityakin, his words are quoted by "Interfax".
He named China, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Indonesia, Egypt and Iran as promising export destinations. Lityakin estimated the potential at $2 billion per year. "This is what the BRICS countries can get from Russia," he concluded.
The BRICS countries, Lityaykin noted, are playing an increasingly important role in the global fish market. By the end of last year, the share of these countries in the structure of global imports of fish and seafood amounted to about 17.5 percent — 35 billion dollars out of 200 billion. Among the BRICS countries, China (28.4 billion), Brazil (about 1.5 billion) and the UAE (823 million) have the greatest potential, Lityaykin concluded.
The supply of Russian fish and seafood to China has been growing for several years. According to the results of the first four months of 2026, shipments of these types of domestic products to the Asian country increased by 13 percent in physical terms and by 46 percent in monetary terms. Exports to Europe, on the contrary, fell by 35 percent in monetary terms during this time.
