OREANDA-NEWS  Students protesting in Serbia held a peaceful march in honor of Student's Day, which is celebrated in the country on April 4, and blocked several major streets in the center of Belgrade on Friday, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

In Serbia, Student's Day is celebrated on Friday. On April 4, 1936, a communist student, Jarko Marinovic, died in Belgrade during the dispersal of a protest. His large portrait, along with the banner "Blockade", was carried in front of the column.

During the march and at the gathering places, students blocked traffic in the city center on the streets near the Church of St. Sava, on the site of an improvised stage at the Law Faculty of the University of Belgrade. There, the participants observed 16 minutes of silence in memory of the 16 victims of the collapse of the awning at the railway station in Novi Sad on November 1.
