Record heat wave has set in two European capitals

The temperature rose to record levels in Bratislava, where the thermometer reached a mark of plus 39.9 degrees. Unprecedented heat was also observed in Vienna, located 60 kilometers from the Slovak capital, where the air warmed up to a record plus 40.1 degrees. At the same time, temperatures in these cities may rise even higher by the end of the week.
Earlier in London, the weather forecasts for July were summed up. According to measurements at the weather station at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, for the first time in the history of observations, precipitation was not recorded in the British capital for a whole month. Londoners have not seen anything like this since 1871, and forecasters believe the situation in the city will not change in the coming weeks.
At the end of July, Germany calculated how many lives were claimed by the record heat wave that set in the country this summer. As it turned out, almost 10 thousand citizens could not survive the heat. Most often, deaths occurred due to the combined effects of heat and pre-existing chronic diseases. As a rule, women over the age of 85 became victims of abnormal temperatures.
