OREANDA-NEWS  In Russia, the 2026 grape harvest in key wine-making regions may become one of the best in quality, Roskachestvo reports following a visit by experts from the "Wine Guide of Russia" to the Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and Dagestan.

"The situation in different parts of the country is different, but this season has every chance of becoming one of the best in a decade," the press release says.

"The most important feature of this year is the high availability of moisture in the vineyards of the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea, mainly due to the snowy winter, which compensated for the water stress of previous years," said Olesya Latysheva, director of the Department for Research and Promotion of domestic wine products at Roskachestvo. - The year itself was cooler in Kuban and Crimea than in previous years. Harvesting began on average three to four weeks later than in 2025. This is very important for high-quality and uniform ripening of grapes for white and sparkling wines. Today, according to forecasts of our experts, the 2026 season in key regions of winemaking may become one of the best in terms of grape quality."

The largest harvest of technical (wine) grape varieties in 2026 will again be harvested in the Krasnodar Territory, as in the previous year. Last year, the season was a record for Kuban viticulture - over 317 thousand tons of grapes, or about a third of the total harvest in Russia (995,000 tons, including table varieties and grapes from private farms). The initial forecast for the season in the region was much more modest - at the level of 250 thousand tons, but a successful flowering season and good moisture supply allowed the vineyards to produce a harvest close to the record of the previous year, according to a press release.

The largest grape-harvesting region in the region is the Taman Peninsula. "It" accounts for up to 200 thousand tons of harvest, of which more than half are processed by two of the largest Taman producers - "Kuban wine" (92 thousand tons) and "Fanagoria" (about 40 thousand tons).

Sevastopol can demonstrate the highest rates of grape yield growth this year. In 2025, 20.9 thousand tons of industrial grapes were harvested here. The forecast for 2026 is up to 27.6 thousand tons. According to Roskachestvo experts, the potential results of cleaning in Crimea are also high. This year, the peninsula can harvest more than 120,000 tons of grapes, slightly more than last year's volume. At the same time, the quality of Crimean grapes can produce one of the best vintages in the modern history of winemaking in the region.

"Massandra" ""Inkerman" (28,000 tons), "Zolotaya Balka" (15,000 tons) and a number of others will traditionally become the largest grape processors in Crimea and Sevastopol this year.

Wine growers of Dagestan this year plan to repeat the record harvest of 2025 - at the level of 226.5 thousand tons of industrial varieties. """""Alvisa", "Derbent wine", "Derbent Brandy Factory" and "Derbent Sparkling Wine Factory" will become the leaders in grape processing for the production of wine products, including still and sparkling wines this year. Each of them accounts for from 25 thousand to 30 thousand tons of processing.

"The final harvest results can be summed up in November. The weather is changeable, but the foundation for a great year and high-quality wines is very good this year," concluded Olesya Latysheva.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the area of vineyards in the country now stands at 113.3 thousand hectares. Moreover, 35% of vineyards are quite young - from 5 to 15 years old. The age from 15 to 25 years accounts for 27%. This year, the area is planned to be increased by 5,000 hectares. The Ministry of Agriculture forecasts the grape harvest in 2026 at the level of 2025.

"Wine Guide of Russia" is an annual project on the study of wine products, which Roskachestvo implements jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as with the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia (ABVR). The partner of the project is Rosselkhoznadzor.
