OREANDA-NEWS   A wide range of antibiotics is supported in Russian pharmacies, their production, supply and release into civil circulation continue, the press service of Roszdravnadzor reported.

Earlier, the Vedomosti newspaper reported that there was a shortage of some children's antibiotics in Russia, including cefuroxime. "A wide range of antibiotics is available in pharmacies in Russia, their production, supply and introduction into civil circulation are continuing," the report says. According to the drug movement monitoring system, there are more than 10.5 million packages of the drug with the international nonproprietary name amoxicillin, more than 6.4 million packages of amoxicillin +clavulanic acid, more than 2.4 million packages of cefuroxime, more than 2.4 million packages of cefexim and more than 2.1 million packages of clarithromycin in civil circulation, the press service said. At the same time, the drugs are available in various dosage forms, the department noted.

"The absence of a drug with a specific trade name in a pharmacy organization may be caused by increased demand and is not a sign of a shortage," the press service stressed. Roszdravnadzor, together with the Ministry of Health of Russia, monitors the situation with the provision of medicines to citizens and the actual availability of medicines, the agency added.
