OREANDA-NEWS The Russian Foreign Ministry has sent a message of gratitude to Turkmenistan with appreciation for humanitarian assistance for the children of Primorsky Krai affected by the natural disaster, the Russian-language newspaper of the government "Neutral Turkmenistan" reported on Thursday.

"The message emphasizes that this gesture of goodwill in the spirit of friendship and mutual assistance is seen as a symbol of the consistently high level of Russian-Turkmen relations developing on the principles of in-depth strategic partnership," the newspaper said.

A week ago, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed an order to send a cargo of humanitarian aid intended for children of the Primorsky Territory to Russia against the backdrop of a natural disaster.

Since the beginning of August, heavy rains have repeatedly passed in Primorye, causing floods. In the middle of the month, the region was seriously affected by typhoon Hanun and the polar front, then thousands of homes were flooded, a regional emergency regime was introduced. Intense downpours again took place on August 23 and 25, causing flooding. The governor of the region Oleg Kozhemyako announced on August 25 the introduction of a federal emergency regime. The southern cyclone covered Primorye on Tuesday, precipitation continued at night and in the morning on Wednesday, shifting to the east. Heavy rains led to flooding again.
