OREANDA-NEWS In January-May 2026, Russia increased the supply of cognac to China. RIA Novosti reports on a sharp increase in exports to the BRICS partner country, citing data from the federal center for Agroexport.
In physical terms, supplies increased 11-fold year-on-year, to 2.6 thousand liters. The cost of cognac exports increased 31 times and reached almost 100 thousand dollars.
"According to experts, in the first five months of 2026, Russia exported to China more than 2.6 thousand liters of cognac worth almost 100 thousand dollars. This is 11 times more in physical terms and 31 times more in value terms compared to the same period last year," the experts note.
Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for relations with international organizations to achieve sustainable development goals, owner of the Abrau-Durso group of companies, said that cognac brands from Armenia, which are popular on the domestic market, will be able to replace cognac brands from Armenia in Russia, and there will be no problems in this regard. There will be no major changes in the domestic cognac market, and the introduction of restrictions will definitely not lead to an increase in price, since the market is saturated with products "from the simplest segment to the highest level," he assured.
