Russia has sharply reduced purchases of one type of product from the European Union

OREANDA-NEWS By the end of July 2026, the total cost of supplying European perfumes to the Russian market decreased by more than a third compared to the same period in 2025. RIA Novosti reports a sharp drop in purchases of this type of product, citing data from the Statistical Service of the European Union (Eurostat).
During the reporting period, the price of perfume and toilet water exports from the EU to Russia dropped by 37 percent year-on-year and fell to 26.4 million euros. As for cosmetics, its shipments in July amounted to 34.5 million euros, having decreased by 16 percent over the year.
In general, in January-July, purchases by Russian importers of European perfumes decreased by 22 percent, to 190.2 million euros. As for cosmetics, its shipments in the first seven months of 2026 amounted to 34.5 million euros, having decreased by 16 percent over the year.
The drop in imports of European cosmetics is recorded against the background of a noticeable increase in purchases of these products from South Korea. So, from January to August 2026, shipments from the Asian country increased by 20 percent in money and reached $ 287.7 million. Such dynamics allowed Russia to take the sixth place in the list of the largest importers of South Korean cosmetics.
