Russia reacted to the booing of the national anthem in Georgia

OREANDA-NEWS Mikhail Mamiashvili, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, reacted to the reaction of Georgian spectators who booed the Russian national anthem during the award ceremony for judoka Timur Arbuzov at the European Championships in Tbilisi. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
Mamiashvili said he felt sorry for the people who did this. "Like little offended mice whistling from under the baseboard. We can only pray for such unfortunate people," he added.
Georgian fans booed the Russian national anthem during the Arbuzov award ceremony on April 18. The 22-year-old Russian defeated three-time world champion Tato Grigalashvili of Georgia in the final of the competition in the category up to 81 kilograms.
The European Judo Championships were held in Tbilisi from April 16 to 19. Russian athletes performed on it with a flag and an anthem. The International Judo Federation made the corresponding decision at the end of November 2025.
