OREANDA-NEWS  Russia plans to supply more than 5 million tons of fertilizers to India in 2025, the head of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAPU) told reporters.

"In the first nine months of 2025, compared with 2024, we have already increased the supply of mineral fertilizers to India by 40% (...). I think that by the end of the year we will supply 5-5.5 million tons of all types of fertilizers to India, mainly phosphorous fertilizers, and we will certainly reserve the first a place among importers of mineral fertilizers to India," he said.

Since 2021, Russia has increased the supply of fertilizers to the country by more than four times, Guryev recalled.

In 2024, India imported 4.7 million tons of Russian fertilizers.

"The parties welcomed steps to ensure long-term fertilizer supplies to India and discussed the possible establishment of joint ventures in this area," Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a joint statement following the Russia-India summit.

During Putin's visit to New Delhi, Uralchem, a Russian producer of mineral fertilizers, signed a memorandum of understanding with Indian companies Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers, India Potash and National Fertilizers. The day before, Reuters, citing sources, reported that Uralchem plans to conclude an agreement with its Indian partners to establish a joint venture for the production of carbamide in Russia. According to the InfoTEK portal, we are talking about the construction of a carbamide plant in Taman (Krasnodar Territory).
