OREANDA-NEWS The Memorandum of understanding between the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi and the Federal Agency for Press and Mass communications on Russia's participation as a Guest of Honour in the International book fair in Abu Dhabi in 2020 was signed in Rospechat.

On the part of the United Arab Emirates, the document was signed by the Deputy Head of the Department of culture and tourism of Abu Dhabi, safe said Gobash, and on the Russian side-by the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for press and mass communications Vladimir Grigoriev.

The Abu Dhabi International book fair will be held from 16 to 22 April 2020 at the Abu Dhabi national exhibition centre. The Russian stand will feature books by leading Russian publishers, as well as an extensive program. During the fair, visitors will be able not only to buy books and learn about publishing novelties, but also to communicate with writers, publishers and specialists in Oriental culture. Moreover, museums, theaters and other cultural institutions will also become platforms for the presentation of the cultural wealth of our country.

In addition, within the framework of cooperation between Russia and the UAE, about 20 best works of modern Russian literature will be translated into Arabic. The list of authors and works is still being prepared, but Russia intends to attract qualified translators who would be able to translate books from the original language. When translating from English or French (when translating from a translation), the charm and melody of the language, style and sometimes meaning are completely lost.

By the way, about 80 percent of the population of Abu Dhabi are foreigners. The Deputy Head of Rospechat also expressed hope that the Russian-speaking residents of the Emirate will show interest in the Russian stand at the upcoming fair.
