OREANDA-NEWS A potential Russian base on the Moon can be saved from overheating by using regolith, which is proposed to be used as an accumulator of excess thermal energy. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a study by scientists from the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).

"The project is based on the use of local resources — lunar soil (regolith) and water — and will overcome an important problem: the discharge of heat accumulated at the base during a long and extremely hot two—week lunar day," the publication says.

The relevant work of MAI is carried out in cooperation with the Federal Medical and Biological Agency.
