OREANDA-NEWS   South Korean billionaire Choi Tae-won will pay hundreds of millions of dollars to his ex-wife Noh Seo-yeon after the divorce. This is reported by the Yonhap news agency.

It is known that the dispute over the division of the property of the ex-spouses lasted more than ten years. In the end, the Seoul Supreme Court ordered the 65-year-old chairman of the board of the largest corporation SK Group to pay his ex-wife 944 billion won (53 billion rubles). The amount to be paid was 12 percent of Won's fortune, which is estimated at about 5.6 billion dollars.

According to the court's decision, Yong is entitled to one third of the joint property. At the same time, the judge took into account the property status of the spouses at the time of marriage and the contribution of each of them to the accumulation of family wealth.

"The value of the shares increased significantly due to Choi Tae Won's entrepreneurial activities during his marriage, but Noh Seo Yeon's domestic work, child rearing, and her social activities related to SK Group also contributed to this," the decision says.

It is known that Noh So Young is the 65-year-old daughter of former South Korean President Noh Tae-woo. She married Choi Tae Won in 1988, and they had three children together. Their union broke up in 2015, when the businessman published a letter in the newspaper admitting that he had a mistress and an illegitimate child. The official divorce was filed in 2017.
