OREANDA-NEWS  The Syrian authorities have allowed the passage of Russian civilian aircraft over the territory of their country. This was told by the head of the civil aviation service Bassem Mansur.

According to the official, the country is able to ensure the safety of aircraft. Damascus immediately responded to Moscow's request. Now Syria is waiting for Russia's decision.

"Syria has asked the Russian Federation to provide it with a flight schedule to provide it with air corridors, but for now we are waiting for a response from the Russian side," Mansour was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Recall that on December 15, the iFly airline, which is engaged in flights to Egypt, started having problems. Jordan closed the airspace for her and demanded a foreign certificate for the aircraft.

The airline decided to redirect flights through Syria, but could not reach an agreement with the Federal Air Transport Agency. As a result, thousands of Russians were stuck in Egyptian resorts.

On December 26, it became known about the cancellation of iFly flights to Egypt for an indefinite period.
