OREANDA-NEWS  Thailand has extradited to Russia a person accused of fraud in the implementation of a state contract for the development of the military-industrial complex worth over 3 billion rubles, said Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry.

"Today, at Bangkok airport, employees of the competent authorities of the Kingdom of Thailand handed over a citizen of our country to the Russian police. He was on the international wanted list on charges of committing fraud on a particularly large scale," Wolf told reporters on Thursday.

According to investigators, from 2021 to 2024, the defendant "provided false information when fulfilling government contracts within the framework of the target program for the development of the military-industrial complex."

"Thus, through front companies, he stole budget funds totaling over 3.2 billion rubles," the representative of the ministry explained.

In April last year, a criminal case was opened on fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The accused disappeared abroad and has been wanted since December 2025.

"Thanks to cooperation through Interpol channels, information was received from Thai partners about the detention of a wanted person in the territory of the specified state. He will be taken to the Russian Federation for investigative actions," Volk concluded.
