OREANDA-NEWS In October, Russian farmers were supposed to send the first large shipments of wheat through the Estonian ports of Muuga and Sillamae, after the ban of the authorities of the European country on transit, domestic farmers lost this opportunity. Kommersant reports on the consequences of the restrictive measure, citing a source in the agricultural market.

After large-scale disruptions in the export of Russian grain through the Azov-Black Sea basin, the role of the ports of the Baltic countries in the structure of shipments has increased. The increased attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have created serious problems for domestic agricultural companies.

In the first quarter of this agricultural year, the newspaper's interlocutor noted, shipments through the Estonian ports of Muuga and Sillamae had not yet been carried out. However, Russian agricultural exporters were counting on this route; in the middle of autumn, large shipments of domestic wheat were to go through Estonia to foreign markets.
