OREANDA-NEWS  Eight residents of the Kherson region died as a result of flooding of coastal territories after the destruction of the infrastructure of the Kakhovskaya HPP, said the acting governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

"Unfortunately, there are victims that are inevitable for a catastrophe of this magnitude. Their number has grown to eight people," he wrote in his telegram channel.

Five deaths were reported the day before.

According to the latest data from the authorities, more than 5.8 thousand people were evacuated from the flooded territories of the Kherson region, 243 of them children, 62 people with limited mobility. In total, 22.2 thousand houses in 17 settlements were flooded. According to the forecast, the rise of water can last up to 10 days.
