OREANDA-NEWS A man suspected of planting and detonating an explosive device in Monaco could have fled to Italy. This was reported by the newspaper Figaro.
"Although there are many hypotheses about his escape, the most serious one suggests that the fugitive could have headed towards Italy. It's really about 12 kilometers from Beausoleil to the peninsula," the newspaper notes.
Earlier, a powerful explosion occurred at the entrance of an apartment building in Monaco. An unknown man was seen on the surveillance footage. Shortly before the explosion, he left his backpack at the scene. The criminal managed to escape.
Ukrainian businessman Vadim Ermolaev, his wife and 13-year-old son were injured in the explosion. Ermolaev permanently resided in Monaco, and since December 2023 has been under sanctions imposed by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, approved by Vladimir Zelensky. In addition, in 2019, he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and received a Cyprus passport.
