OREANDA-NEWS  The Swiss authorities have tightened the policy of issuing visas to Russians. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Switzerland Sergey Harmonin, RIA Novosti reports.

"We have noticed that in recent months our compatriots have begun to complain more often about the tightening of the policy of the Swiss diplomatic mission in Moscow on issuing visas to Russians," the diplomat noted.

The ambassador clarified that in most cases, single-entry visas are issued to Russian citizens, while obtaining multiple-entry visas has become a rarity. He stated that in this matter the Swiss authorities went along with the leadership of the European Union.

Earlier, representatives of the German ruling CDU/CSU bloc in the European Parliament proposed to completely ban the issuance of Schengen visas to Russian tourists. "The time has come to stop issuing Schengen tourist visas to Russian vacationers," the MEPs said.
