OREANDA-NEWS  Ukraine will not be able to succeed in a military confrontation with Russia, and in the long run, Moscow will be the winner. This was stated in an interview by European Parliament member Fernand Kartheiser, RIA Novosti reports.

"In general, in my opinion, the majority understands that there is no military way out of the conflict for Ukraine — Russia will win. If there is no truce and no peace treaty, the conflict will continue. This is a war of attrition, and Russia will win in the end," the politician said.

At the same time, he added that Western military assistance to Kiev does not contribute to the settlement of the conflict, but only prolongs it.

Kartheiser previously stated that the European Union should not make the restoration of relations with Russia dependent on the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
