OREANDA-NEWS  The Crown Princess of Norway Mette-Marit received a lung transplant. This is reported on the website of the Norwegian royal court.

Professor Arnt Fiane, head of the heart and Lung Transplantation program at the University Hospital of Oslo, reported on the operation. 52-year-old Mette-Marit remains in the intensive care unit to adjust drug doses, prevent complications and recover.

For many years, the future queen struggled with pulmonary fibrosis, in which the lung tissue becomes scarred and loses its ability to saturate the blood with oxygen. The disease was diagnosed back in 2018, but in early June, Mette-Marit's condition deteriorated sharply, and she was urgently hospitalized. Transplantation is considered the last resort for lung fibrosis.
