The European Union has sharply reduced imports of one Russian product

OREANDA-NEWS The European Union bought 1.53 million tons of fertilizers from Russia in the second half of last year. These Eurostat data were quoted by Interfax.
The achieved result was 44 percent lower when compared with the results of the same period in 2024. In total, by the end of 2025, the European Union imported 4.8 million tons of fertilizers from Russia worth 1.74 billion euros. Compared to the year before last, this is four percent more in monetary terms and three percent less in physical terms.
Poland turned out to be the largest importer of these products among the EU countries. In 2024, it increased purchases of fertilizers from Russia by 41 percent and brought this figure to 1.8 million tons. Germany bought 511,000 tons, and France — 366,000 tons, reducing imports by 42 percent. Romania and Spain purchased 363 and 329 thousand tons, respectively.
Earlier it was reported that in December 2025, the import of Russian fertilizers to the states of the European Union increased to a maximum in six months and is estimated at 212.5 million euros.
