OREANDA-NEWS A strict tariff policy is unlikely to help the United States fully switch to the production of goods domestically: transferring the production of components to the United States threatens to cost too much to a number of industries, in particular, the automotive industry, Ksenia Bondarenko, associate professor at the Department of World Economy at the Faculty of World Economics and Politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump threatened industrial companies with duties for refusing to localize production in the United States. At the same time, he stated that the world's leading manufacturers of microchips, cars and companies from other industries have expressed their intention to return their production to the States. Also in June, Trump signed an executive order aimed at strengthening U.S. leadership in the development, commercialization and export of unmanned aerial vehicles.
