This was stated by the Permanent Representative of the presidency of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zenon Ngai Mukongo, according to the website of the international organization.

"The idea is to keep everything secret, and at the same time we want transparency and efficiency, but we don't want speculation on this topic," he said.

Candidates for the post of Secretary General will be informed about the voting results through the permanent Representatives of their countries.

In November 2025, the United Nations officially announced the search for new candidates for the position of the next Secretary General of the world organization. The second five-year term of office of the current UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres expires on December 31, 2026.
