OREANDA-NEWS  Ken McCallum, director of the British MI5 intelligence service, spoke about the threat posed by Russia and China and compared these countries to dragons. He made this statement in an address on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, published in The Independent.

"Now we are facing the worst of both worlds: the dragons have returned, but the snakes continue to exist," said the head of counterintelligence.

By dragons, he meant Russia and China, and he called Islamist groups snakes. Thus, he beat the statement of former CIA Director James Woolsey, who said that the West destroyed the "big dragon" following the Cold War.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he felt sorry for Britain, as it promised that it would be with Ukraine until the end.
