OREANDA-NEWS  Some EU countries are unhappy with the position of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the issue of the Middle East conflict. They believe that the politician's statements go beyond the mandate, writes Politico with reference to nine European diplomats.

The publication says that von der Leyen has taken a public position that goes beyond the consensus position of the EU capitals. One of the senior diplomats said that she does not consult with representatives of EU countries before speaking publicly.

Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen said that a sustainable resolution of the crisis around Iran is possible only through diplomacy.
