OREANDA-NEWS The civilian population should prepare for an all-out war with Russia in the next 20 years, The Telegraph quotes the head of the NATO military committee Rob Bauer.

"We must understand that our peaceful existence is not taken for granted. And that is why we must prepare for a conflict with Russia. We need to be prepared for everything. We need to create a system that will allow us to train more people in case of war, regardless of whether it happens or not," he said.

Bauer praised Sweden for asking citizens to prepare for war before the country officially joined the Alliance.

"It all starts with this. The realization that not everything can be planned and not everything will be fine in the next 20 years," he says.

In addition, Bauer called for modernizing the industry so that it would be possible to produce weapons and ammunition faster.

Last October, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also called for preparations for a possible conflict in Europe. In response, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from Crimea, said that the German authorities, with their aggressive policy, were themselves inviting war to European countries. According to him, the key to peace and prosperity of the region can only be friendly and good-neighborly relations with Russia.

Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it does not pose a threat to any of the NATO countries, but will not ignore actions that are potentially dangerous to its interests. At the same time, it remains open to dialogue, but on an equal basis, and the West should abandon the course of militarization of Europe.
As Vladimir Putin noted, Russia does not want a direct military clash with the North Atlantic Alliance, but if someone wishes, then it is ready for this.
