OREANDA-NEWS  The heads of 44 countries will come to Moldova to participate in the summit of the European Political Community scheduled for June 1, several other officials have not yet confirmed the visit, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said.

"At the moment, 44 heads of state and government have confirmed their participation in the summit of the European Political Community. Almost all the leaders will come, but some countries have not yet confirmed their participation," Popescu said on Radio Moldova. According to him, the leaders of the states will meet at the plenary session, after which the heads of delegations will be divided into working groups to discuss security issues on the European continent. A number of bilateral meetings are also planned between the participants. "We are preparing several important statements, concrete initiatives for Moldova, all of which will be announced at the summit or on the sidelines of this summit. There are several of them," Popescu explained.

When asked whether Vladimir Zelensky will participate in the summit, the minister replied that the decision will be made by the Ukrainian partners on the day of the event.

The Moldovan authorities are preparing to hold a summit of the European Political Community on June 1-2, which will be attended by representatives of 60 countries. The event will be held on the initiative of the Head of the Republic Maya Sandu. The founder of the ENP was French President Macron in May last year. The authorities announced special security measures during the event, which caused a wave of criticism from opponents of the president and the ruling Action and Solidarity party. The summit will be held on the territory of the Mimi winery in the village of Bulboaka, where the Dacia military base and the military training ground where the national army exercises are held are also located.
