OREANDA-NEWS The UK Maritime Trade Authority (UKMTO) has reported an incident with a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman.
"The UKMTO has received an incident report 20 nautical miles (32.19 km) northeast of Khasab, Oman. The tanker's captain reported hearing an explosion in the immediate vicinity of the vessel," the department said in a statement.
It is noted that the ship and crew are safe.
The authorities are investigating.
"Vessels are advised to exercise caution when passing through and report any suspicious activity to the UKMTO," the department added.
