The influence of La Niña on the weather was assessed

OREANDA-NEWS The natural phenomenon of La Niña will not have a significant impact on the state of the atmosphere. Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told the TASS news agency about this.
"The phenomenon of La Niña, the opposite of El Niño, when there is a decrease in temperature in the central and eastern waters of the Pacific Ocean, is indeed pronounced now, but not very intense," the forecaster reassured. According to him, the climate process will lead to only small deviations from the norm: the temperature will drop by less than a degree. According to meteorologists, La Nina will not last long and will enter a neutral phase in March-April.
At the same time, according to scientists at the University of Hawaii, over the past century, the phenomenon of La Niña, which is the opposite phase of El Nino, has become more frequent and prolonged. Some prolonged La Niña events occurred after super El Niño due to massive heat release from the upper ocean, but 2007, 2010, and 2020 violate these statistics.
Earlier, Vilfand said that 2025 could be one of the five or even three hottest years on the planet. However, it will probably not be possible to update the temperature record this year. "But these are still calculations that remind me of the inflation forecast," the meteorologist joked.
