OREANDA-NEWS  The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced strikes using missiles and drones against a US merchant ship and facilities in the Middle East in response to the American attacks carried out the day before, PressTV TV channel reports.

According to the report, the Iranian military launched an anti-ship missile attack on the US-affiliated vessel Panaya, attacked the command center of the Fifth Operational Fleet of the US Navy and an American base in one of the Middle Eastern countries in response to attacks on the island of Qeshm and a tanker associated with Iran.

Any violation of security in the Strait of Hormuz will entail a harsh response for the US military, the IRGC warned.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces in the Middle East (CENTCOM) announced strikes on the Iranian island of Qeshm and an Iranian-linked tanker that was heading to Kharq Island.

The day before, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck the merchant ship MSC Sariska in the Persian Gulf in response to the attack by the US Navy on the Iranian-linked bulk carrier Lian Star. The ship belonged to the "American-Israeli enemy," the IRGC said.
