OREANDA-NEWS  Russia is grateful to the "Belarusian friends" for pardoning Sofia Sapieha. The Kremlin's reaction was told by the press secretary of the president Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti writes.

According to him, the authorities positively perceived the release of the Russian woman. "Such decisions, of course, are entirely in unison with our fraternal, friendly and allied nature of relations," Peskov stressed.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko pardoned Sofia Sapega on June 7. Earlier, the Court of the republic sentenced her to six years in prison. The Russian woman was handed over to the delegation of Primorsky Krai, which was headed by Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.
